John Lennon Peace Tower Goes Up In Iceland

by Tim Cashmere - September 12 2007

Yoko Ono is planning to erect the John Lennon peace tower in Reykjavik, Iceland.

The "light tower" will be unveiled on the 9th of October, which would have been the late superstar's 67th birthday and will feature the phrase "imagine peace" in 24 languages.

According to the BBC, Lennon had envisioned the tower existing, with Ono quoted as saying "I consider myself very fortunate to see the dream my husband and I dreamt together become reality."

Buried around the installation will be 100,000 wishes in capsules from people around the world.

The unusual choice of Reykjavik was made because of Iceland's unique eco-friendly nature.

Fans (and anyone, really) are invited to join Ono in unveiling the tower.
