Cradle of Filth are back with yet another instalment of extreme
metal for the masses. While the black metal community often
dismisses them as merely show ponies, pretending to be sacrificing
their soul to the devil ('cause it's uhh… "cool"
to do so…) they never give credit to their musicianship
or the fact that they could just be having a good time.
Cradle of Filth do have a tendency to be offensive for the
sake of being offensive. Back in the late nineties they released
a t-shirt that exclaimed in large text on the back "Jesus
Is A C*nt" (I doubt they've met Jesus to find out first
hand, but hey, what can you do?).
When they have song titles like 'Gilded C*nt' and they've
named their album 'Nymphetamine', they're not exactly going
for high art, but they are sticking a middle finger up to
anything conservative, even if they are laughed at, and you
have to admire them for that.
