by Tim Cashmere D12 are back and with more bounce than ever. While this album isn't anything too strikingly new, it is fun and you can bang your mofo'in head to it. Throw in a little blatant cross promotion (guests include Obie Trice and Eminem) and you have a standard, but by no means bad hip hop album. If you don't chuckle during 'Just Like U' then you probably need to get that laughing gland checked out. Lines like "Son, you daddy got a foul mouth/from fucking bitches in their foul mouth/I can't help it, my group's D12/All we do is pop pills and stay in jail" squeeze in between "I wanna be just like you, when I grow old just like!" chanted by kids in the chorus. The first single 'My Band' features Eminem taking the piss out of "real" bands paralleling it with his own situation; how he gets the attention and everyone forgets about the plebs in the back. Eminem is the focus point around the middle of the album. With his unique style, you would be forgiven for falling into the "this is an Eminem record" trap. He is the only one you can actually tell apart from the rest! As
I said in the opening paragraph, this isn't an amazing or groundbreaking
album, but it's never boring and uniquely D12. It's more fun than tough,
which is a nice change. Label: Universal |
