Eran James : Reviewing
The Situation
By Tim Cashmere
9th September 2004
Eran James is one talented
kid. At just fifteen years of age (beating Joss Stone's record)
he's come out with a great soul album, featuring some of the
best musicians around today. The surprising thing is that
for a fifteen year old kid from Melbourne, his voice lives
up to the standards of the soul legends that came before him.
While I won't go so far as to say he's Stevie Wonder, he's
certainly on his way down that path. As he tackles classics
like 'Forever Suffering' by James Brown or Al Green's 'Tired
of Being Alone' you really get the sense this kid knows where
he's coming from, despite obviously being handed these songs
by a producer.
The two most changed tracks on the album include John Lennon's
'Jealous Guy' and the epic Lenny Kravitz tune 'Let Love Rule'.
As he flows through these tunes he simply makes them his own.
It's a pleasure to hear that live instruments are quickly
coming back in fashion, and it's a pleasure to hear such a
talented young man raising the bar for performers.
