Killing Heidi : Killing
Heidi
By Tim Cashmere
21st September 2004
After a long while spent in
America recording their third album, Killing Heidi have finally
returned with something to show for it. This time the band
have taken a huge step in their sound and returned with an
album that can compete on a worldwide scale.
The album opens with the track 'I Am', lifted from the Australia
and New Zealand releases of the Spiderman 2 soundtrack. This
tune has been heard all over Australian airwaves, but people
shouldn't pin this album down to that one song.
'Way Home' shows vocalist Ella Hooper stretching her voice
to hit notes she's never hit before and 'Summer Long' where
the band actually use drum machines (and make them sound as
though Regurgitator had produced the track)!
For Killing Heidi's critics (and lets face it, there are
quite a few of you out there), don't be fooled into thinking
this album sounds like their last two. 'Killing Heidi' is
a result of a band growing into its full potential and while
they're not quite there yet, they've come a long way, baby!
